Be Kind Rewind

Mike is working at a declining VHS rental store called Be Kind Rewind in Passaic, New Jersey. Mike's best friend Jerry, who lives in a trailer, accompanies Mike while he works at the video store. Mike is fascinated by the story that Fats Waller, the legendary jazz musician who was born in the very store (according to the stores owner, Mr. Fletcher). Because the store is old and run-down, Mr. Fletcher is warned by the city that if he does not bring the building up to code, it will be demolished to make way for new condominiums. Mr. Fletcher goes out on trip to get ideas on how to increase business by spying on a successful chain of DVD rental stores. On the way to his train, Mr. Fletcher puts Mike in charge of Be Kind Rewind while he is away. As Mr. Fletcher boards the train, he remembers an important instruction he had to give Mike before he leaves. Unfortunately, the train has already started moving, so Mr. Fletcher writes the words "Keep Jerry Out" on the foggy window, however from Mike's perspective it reads "peeK yrreJ tuO". Mike fails to understand what Mr. Fletcher had intended to say and tries to deciper the message back at the store.
